Cycling in Bordeaux

The landscape of Bordeaux lends itself especially well to cyclists. Not only do you have glorious countryside and quiet roads (away from the main arteries that is), but you have tremendous choice of marked cycle routes and paths.

The city of Bordeaux, despite having a busy and traffic heavy centre, is actually very well set up for cycling. With cycle paths, the long stretch of waterfront promenade along the Gironde estuary and the multitude of V3 city bikes for rent you would be hard pushed not to take advantage of travelling by bike. It may also surprise you to know that whole of the Atlantic coast and the towns that are situated on it from the Grand Dune du Pilat all the way to tip at Soulac-sur-Mer are linked by well-designed and marked cycle paths, making this a haven for cyclists and those who love the outdoors.

France is a land of passion and down here in Bordeaux, the French love affair with cycling is shown by the number of bike paths and the consideration shown to cyclists by motorists. Add sunshine, fine food & wine and a culture of joie de vivre and you have all that is needed for great cycling holidays whether veteran or novice.
